Back from My Break!

I honestly can’t believe it’s been two weeks since I’ve posted! My laptop
has been in the shop-it’s toast. So I’ve bought a new one.
I’ve been spending most of my days off walking around
the resort area snapping photos.
The resort where I’m working is the only original lodge that’s still operating
in the Yukon. Therefore we have a lot of old, original log buildings here.
It’s certainly not a fancy place, but ever so rich in history.
All of the old cabins are used for storage now. A shame, I think.
This is an old dugout where canned good were stored many eons ago.
This is a Yukon Crocus. It bloomed just last week, so I’m hoping this
is a sign that spring is on the way here!
Look at these sweet mountain sheep that came down to the lake to get
a drink. They will be gone to the other side of the mountain soon. The
ewes come over to have their kids and then about a month later they
return to the other side. I’m so thrilled I was able to get this close.
We also have a boat bone yard here. This is Josephine. I can  only imagine
the fish she’s hauled in in her days. Although it is beautiful here, it is
also sad to see what was once an active and striving way of life now
faded into decay. The dear couple we work for are now in their 70’s and are just worn out and tired of the daily grind of running a resort. They have
had it for sale for many years now, but there’s not many people with 1.2
million dollars to invest in a remote resort that needs a lot of updating
done to it as well.  I’m really grateful for the whole experience because
I can’t imagine it can go on a whole lot longer.
*******************************************
I’ve looking forward to visiting you all soon-I really missed knowing
what’s happening!
My one year anniversary is coming up in June! I can’t believe how
quickly the time has passed. It’s all been good. I’m sure I won’t get
many arguments on that point!!
 I’m planning a drawing,
so stay posted for more info.
Blessings to all-Kimberly

An interesting spot to work for sure. We've had great weather here until today and it's only 8C and rainy. It's warming up to 20 tomorrow though with rain again. I'm glad spring is coming to you now. 7. Kimberly,Beautiful pictures of the old log cabins. Some of them look not so bad, heck they would make for nice hunting/fishing camps (like we had up north). The sheep are so white, you would think they would have some dirt spots on them from their travels, lol. What beautiful crocus flowers. I look forward to reading more about your stay there.Take care, Sandy

  8. Really? That's a lot of money for a place that is so old and run-down and so far out of the way. That would be a lot for a resort in my corner. Good to find you keeping busy and with a new lap-top! Very good news that…

  11. I am so glad you updated. It is really beautiful. I love all of those log cabins. Not to mention the other things that are there. It is like stepping back in time. I imagine there isn't a lot of people that go to the Yukon. I know that down here in the lower 48 they are having the same problems in the national parks. People don't want to go with out broadband connections. I wish I could go, I would love to see all of that. I have always dreamed of going there. Well, I am so glad you are okay. I think about you all of the time. Gosh it has already been a year? Wow time flies, So glad you started blogging. I am glad to have met you.

  13. I really enjoyed seeing all the photographs of the old cabins and other sites in the Yukon. It's sad that they're asking so much for the resort, because it would be so much fun to restore everything…even that boat. All Lovely!Blessings!Geneva

  14. thanks for sharing these pictures. It's not a place that many of us will have a chance to see. I recently had the chance to visit with an old childhood friend, who drives trucks way up north in Alberta, Yukon, etc and it made me think of you.
