Farmhouse Counter From Reclaimed Lumber

I have been wanting a Farmhouse counter forever! Two years ago when we moved into our house, I spotted three huge hunks of reclaimed lumber in our garage. I knew right then and there that this lumber would make a beautiful Farmhouse counter for my kitchen.

I didn’t mention my dream to my husband just then. After all the house was in need of attention elsewhere (everywhere) at that time!

A few weeks ago when I shared my idea with Tim, I don’t think he had the vision for the project at all. But he took it on and created this beautiful counter for me. Once he started sanding it didn’t take long to see how beautiful the wood was under all of the gray and weathered wood.

See what I’m talking about? The wood had been used as a work bench for many, many years.

In the end we are both very happy with how it turned out. I’m thrilled because now I have even more space to display my Farmhouse treasures. Tim is  just glad to have somewhere store our canned goods! 1. Thank you, Kathy! It was a labour of love. Some of those canned goods have been in the basement for years.
Now maybe we’ll start using them.

  3. Kimberly,

I love you new blog setup!!! I’ve added your new blog setup to my reading list and tried to add it to my blog roll. For some unknown reason it’s not allowing me to add your blog to my blog roll. I need to investigate this further and try to figure this out.

Your kitchen shelves are gorgeous!!! I would kill to have several shelves made like this in my kitchen.

    1. It was a long time coming, Linda, but worth the wait! I have enough lumber to do wall shelves,
but I think I’ll wait a bit before I mention this to tim.

    1. Tim did do a terrific job, I think! It was good to get the canned goods out of the basement too.
I haven’t mentioned it yet, but I’d really love wall shelves to match!

  4. Beautiful! I love the new look of your blog Kimberly! And your farmhouse counter is gorgeous too. Tim did a great job. Love the decor and the jars of preserves lined up. I even see a meat grinder on the end. Cool. All the best to you. Have a great weekend and happy summer days. Hugs. Pam
